D.A.I. — Decisions and Impulses is no longer being developed or released. The project began as an experiment, became a JSON-driven Minecraft game framework, and grew into an ecosystem of complete experiences, creator tools, interfaces, automation, world systems and reusable content.
This decision was not made because development stopped, because there were no more ideas, or because players stopped downloading it. I am ending D.A.I. because continuing to build an actively developed framework around a distribution process I no longer consider dependable would be worse than ending the project cleanly.
The decision follows a documented sequence of CurseForge / Overwolf moderation and support events involving D.A.I.:
These events occurred during a period in which D.A.I. was continuing to grow and while the project was participating in Minecraft ModJam 2026. The concern about competition access and moderation impact was documented with support while the competition was still active, not created afterward.
D.A.I. grew into a framework where JSON could define actions, conditions, objectives, automation, recognition, menus, overlays, custom content, world initialization, persistent state and complete playable experiences. It became a way to build games with Minecraft as the engine.
JSON stopped being merely configuration. JSON became gameplay.
I am willing to fix bugs, rewrite systems, redesign APIs and spend unreasonable amounts of time debugging Minecraft. What I am not willing to do is continue building releases when I cannot reliably determine when they will become available, why they are being held, what requirement I am expected to satisfy, or whether a completed fix will simply enter another extended review.
D.A.I. was built to remove unnecessary barriers between an idea and a playable experience. Continuing under these conditions would mean accepting exactly the kind of barrier the project was designed to eliminate.
Rather than leave D.A.I. permanently trapped between development and moderation, I've decided to give it some mercy and put it out of its misery.
The D.A.I. website remains online as a project archive: its systems, guides, experiences, screenshots, changelogs and history are being preserved so people can see what the experiment became.
